In a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) inked between St. Xavier’s College and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), a masters programme in Big Data Analytics will be introduced in the college. It will be a Masters in Science (MSc) in Big Data Analytics course and will be designed by TCS to fulfil the industry requirements in technology.
The course will be commencing from July. The curriculum has been developed by Dr. Bimal Roy, Padma Shri awardee and former Director of Indian Statistical Institute. The course comprises of subjects like statistical methods, probability and stochastic process, linear algebra and linear programming, computing for data sciences, machine learning and database management.
It is going to be a full-time Masters degree programme comprising of four semesters spread over two years. The fee for the course is Rs. 90,000 per year and the batch strength for the year 2019-2020 would be 30 students. The completion of the course will open the way for students to tremendous opportunities at TCS and other IT companies.
